The largest member of the deer family, moose are found throughout our concessions. The average bull is 52”-54” with some exceeding over 60”, scoring well in the record books. Hunting is conducted with horses, along the timberline where bulls spend most of their time until the rut. Sept 10 to Oct 10 is when the bulls are most active, after rubbing the velvet off their battle gear. In the rut, bulls leave their summer hide-outs in search of cows. These transient bulls now dig rut pits responding to cow calls and the distinct grunt of opposing bulls. What a thrill to have a bull answer the challenge of your guide’s calling efforts, stepping out of the cover of timber. Wow are they ever big!
